Roaches reproduce fast, hide faster, and carry disease. A roach sighting is never just one roach. We treat the colony, not the tile under the fridge.
Cockroaches are the pest most likely to cause a landlord tenant dispute and the pest most likely to fail a health inspection. They reproduce explosively, survive on crumbs, and carry pathogens. Species matters, because German roaches are a kitchen infestation and American roaches are a sewer line invasion. Different species, different treatment.
The most common indoor pest roach. Small, light brown, two dark stripes behind the head. Kitchens, bathrooms, behind appliances. Reproduces faster than any other household roach and the one species most associated with large scale indoor infestations.
The big one, sometimes called a palmetto bug or water bug. Reddish brown, up to two inches long. Usually comes up from sewer lines, basements, and drains. One or two in a house is normal in summer, dozens means something is wrong.
Sometimes called water bugs. Dark brown to black, slow moving, attracted to moisture. Basements, crawlspaces, under sinks. Less common than German but established in older Ozark homes.
A Southern species moving north, medium sized, uniformly dark mahogany. Outdoor roach that comes inside in search of moisture.
Outdoor native species that occasionally wanders inside, especially with firewood. Mistaken for German or American roach but does not reproduce indoors.
We identify species first. German roach treatment is gel bait and IGR based, usually without any broad spraying, because spraying causes colony dispersal. American roach treatment involves drain treatment, sewer line inspection, and perimeter residual. We never guess, we verify.
German roach pressure is year round indoors because the infestation is domestic. American and Oriental roaches peak from late spring through early fall when moisture and heat favor their outdoor populations, which then push indoors.
